Pahars were traditionally solar: four equal watches of daylight and four of night, so they stretch and shrink with the season. The fixed view places the first watch at 6 AM as a modern rendering; solar mode works out sunrise and sunset on this device (NOAA equations), and your location never leaves it. The dial is your own 12-hour clock: the ring shows the half of the day the hour hand is in (AM or PM), and each watch sits where the hand points at that time. Every placement here is an attributed claim with its citation.
